The Maritime Union of India is registered under the Trade
Union Act 1926 with the Registrar of Trade Union. Though
the Indian Merchant Navy Officers’ Association as it was
called then, was founded on December 3, 1939, it was not
until March 30, 1941 that it was registered under the
Indian Trade Union Act. The name was changed to THE MARITIME
UNION OF INDIA on March 31, 1944.
