Merchant Navy Officers who are members of The Maritime Union of India can avail :

1. Guidance on your employment, advise on medical, legal, income tax and insurance matters.
2. MUI arranges insurance cover of your COC with United India Insurance (for financial support during Marine Court of Inquiry in India and abroad).
3. Free delivery of our quarterly home journal ‘Oceanite’. It contains maritime news, M.S. Notices, articles relevant to shipping, and general topics. MUI will consider including your articles if you so desire.
4. Limited financial support to member officers and their immediate family (wife and 2 children - upto age of 21 years) for medical treatment. You and your immediate family (wife and children) can stay at convalescent homes*. In your absence your wife alongwith your children can also avail benefit of the homes. For further information, please write to the Trust (MFSWT) or The Maritime Union of India (MUI).
5. Member officers are requested in their own interest to take up employment with FOSMA, MASSA and IMEC Member Lines for security, safety and better future employment prospects.
6. Officers who have taken up direct employment (Contract basis) with a shipping company which has a separate Bilateral Agreement between the officer and the company to which MUI is not a party, MUI will extend assistance under terms of the Bilateral Agreement
7. Individual officers can avail benefits, facilities and wage scales of the agreements they are employed under.
8. Prior to joining the ship, please send photocopy of your appointment letter, agreement copy and nomination form to your home or to MUI which will be helpful in event of death or accident.
9. In a difficult situation, MUI will extend assistance in all ports through our affiliates and fraternal unions.
