The Martime Union of India (MUI) has lost one of it's most valued leaders.

Mr. K. E. Sukhia was the General Secretary of the Union since 1981 upto 1997. He was instrumental in taking many landmark decisions, forging policies, handling critical issues regarding members betterment. His position and experience brought him in the forefront to deal with the top brass of various shipping companies and related organisations.

Mr. Sukhia would involve himself entirely for betterment of seafarers of the country. Heading a pioneer institution like The Martime Union of India brought with it, it's own share of responsibilities and toil which extended well beyond ideal working hours and gave him few days of respite from the hectic schedule.

Mr. K. E. Sukhia will be remembered for setting an example for all those who will be carrying forward the torch of union activities for betterment of seafarers.

His association with us would always be remembered and cherished. We convey our heartfelt condolence to his family members & pray that God gives them strength to bear this loss. May his soul rest in peace.

The end came suddenly around 1800 hrs. on Friday, 4th July, 08 and the funeral was held the next morning at 0800 hrs.
